May 2009

May 2nd is just around the corner with our first show in Ruston beginning at 10:00 A.M. Saturday morning. We will have access of the arena Friday afternoon and can ride into the evening while enjoying some fellowship. I have enclosed a copy of our show bill that we have put together through the efforts of Ken Kutter and Charlie Beck. Our versatility committee of Ken Kutter, Clayton Pilgreen, and Eddy Lee has put together our versatility events.

We need a good turnout for our club due to smaller participation around the country. Even if you don't show, you can bring your horse and ride Friday and enjoy old friends.

The trail ride at "Roaring Creek" in Kisatchie was a very enjoyable gathering. Much credit goes to Jimmy Christmas for all the preparation and getting the food together for the Friday night "feast." Events like this don't just happen without a lot of effort from those involved. Robert Johnson does a lot of work in keeping our grounds in such good conditions and looking after our camp. Carl Bourgeois spent several days scouting the trails and setting up and leading the Saturday ride. Around the camp we all count on Carl for "fixing whatever is broke" including taking care of our horses' feet. The food was good all week thanks to Peggy Christmas, Jan Bourgeois, Leah Johnson, Tammy Dousay, Janice Brown, Susan Batson, and Wilma Sullivan. These ladies always work so hard to cook, clean, and serve. You can't say enough good things about Jimmy Christmas for organizing the trail rides and making sure everything is done right. Again let me encourage you to come to our first show in Ruston on May 1st and 2nd. Hope to see you there.
