Fellow Fox Trotters The last 3 days have brought some wonderful sunshine after so much rain. We live in such a beautiful world and are so fortunate to enjoy our freedom. Our fox trotter club is alive and well; however, we have gone through some changes with so little interest in scheduled show competition. Our club meeting in Winnsboro had a good attendance and most seemed to enjoy the food and fellowship. Our business meeting only showed 6 members who said they would show in competition; however, all would enjoy "get togethers" and trail rides. Thanks to all the fox trotters who helped with the food and a special thanks to Jimmy & Peggy Christmas for the "Gumbo." Our Saturday St Jude Ride following our Friday night meeting was blessed with good weather and about 70 riders. Wilma and our store employees fed over 100 people for lunch and we had several prize winners. Ken Kutter was the saddle winner and Carl Bourgeois won a pair of Ariat boots. The officers and board members remain the same after much discussion with no interest shown in accepting these positions. We will have a Christmas party December 5 at the Piccadilly in Monroe at noon. Please bring a "horsey" gift under $10 for our annual reading by Susan Batson. There has been some interest about an Alaska Cruise in 2010 by some members and it sounds like lots of fun. We will have further discussion and want all interested persons to bring their opinions and information to the December Christmas meeting. Thanksgiving is around the corner and a very special time of year. We all have so much for which to be thankful. We wish everyone a safe and happy Thanksgiving and look forward to seeing you at the Christmas party at the Piccadilly.
P.S. We are still looking for a volunteer to take the newsletter in 2010. Hello again to all, Just wanted to let everyone know what a great time we had at the supper. Sure hated to miss the ride though! But, this time of year we have to take what we can get. Got to see friends we haven't seen in a long time, eat some good food, and relax and listen to a little music for a while. Most of you may know Shannon is working out of town now so we don't have a lot of time to ride these days. (We sure miss it too!) Daltan is riding some though and Jamie is learning to ride. They are both graduating this year and I am going to miss them terribly! Dennon is in 8th and Daylen in 1st grades this year. They're both doing great. Deltin, well, that's another story.... my baby boy started Pre-K this year. Ahmmmm, first day of school he met his teach with a kick to her shin. Thank goodness she's been there before! But, he's better now. Still doesn't "like" to go but, goes without MUCH complaining. Carolyn and Luther are doing well. She is working part time and Luther is doing what he does best, kicking those feet up and watching westerns! As for me, most people will ask, "What will you do with all the boys gone all day?" Well, for the first week or so of school I just sat around in the quiet and did NOTHING. (and I actually enjoyed it!) But then it was back to reality! Anyway, just wanted to let you all know what a great time we had and hope to get to do more of it. How does the song go?........ The music was great, fish was good, and the people are still crazy..... (Jamie also says "thanks for letting her sing") Hope to see yall all again soon! lots of love,
