HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

We are now in the final quarter of 2010 and the nation has really seen lots of changes in the last two years. We have so much for which to be thankful and this time of year reminds us of what really is important -- God - good health - good friends - good food - good horses.

Our 2011 club officers were elected at the board meeting at the Piccadilly in Monroe Monday evening. I have enjoyed being your president the last 2 years and feel real good about our new addition of Lynn Dousay as president. Lynn will bring a wealth of experience, having been president prior to my 2 years. He is active in showing, along with his wife, Tammy, and has good connection with the MFTHBA leadership in Ava. He can be very instrumental in improving our show interest, especially with the new facility in Bastrop opening in 2011. He can be a big help to Jimmy Christmas and Buddy Savage in getting the "MAC" off to a good start with hopes of bringing some Arkansas and Missouri folks down to Bastrop, as well as some of our Texas neighbors.

New board member Ann Currie replaces Charlie Beck who has served for the last 3 years. She is an avid trail rider and will be an excellent addition to the current trail rider committee of Jimmy Christmas, Buddy Savage, Charlie Cox, and Clellie Batson. We certainly welcome Ann and look forward to lots of trail rides with her.

Our other new board member is Daniel Smith. He replaces Sonny Day who has served the last 3 years. Daniel has served on the board in years past and has a wealth of show experience having won many championships in Ava.

Our newsletter will be taken over by Susan Clow effective 01-01-2011. Any news you wish to put in the letter (births, sickness, deaths, events, items for sale, etc.) should be referred to her. I'm sure she will do a good job.

I want to give a special thanks to Vice President Ken Kutter, Sec/Treasurer Buddy Savage, Board members Charlie Beck, Sonny Day, and Clellie Batson for their support and great friendship during the last 2 years.

I also appreciate Jimmy Christmas who was always there to help in every way. Even though Jimmy was not a board member or officer during my 2 years as President, he helped as announcer during the shows and attended every board meeting and show that we had. I certainly appreciate all the ladies that helped during the shows and trail rides as well.

I've grown so close to all of you and just like family, Wilma and I both truly love you all.
